When
it came to finding funding to purchase a specially built
support truck for the 2006 Dakar Rally, Daniel Upton immediately
turned to asset finance broker, First Capital Finance.
Having already used First Capital Finance for funding
for over £150,000 for specialist equipment for his
tree surgeon business, he knew that the company would
have the contacts and expertise to organise funding for
the specialist vehicle.
The 18 tonne MAN 4-wheel drive truck is one of four support
vehicles for the Bowler Spirit team and will actually
compete in the Dakar Rally as a fast chase competitor,
keeping pace with the team to lend support in the event
of a breakdown. The world’s most gruelling rally
across the Sahara Desert, will start from Lisbon on the
31st December and over the following 15 days will travel
through Morocco, Mauritania, Mali and Guinea.
“Having used First Capital
Finance for many years to fund my business equipment,
I knew that if any company could find the funding for
such an unusual asset as this, it would be First Capital
Finance”, said Daniel Upton. “Not only did
they manage to obtain the necessary finance in record
time, they have once again proved they are the best and
most reliable asset finance company around”.
Currently being race prepared for the Dakar Rally, the
MAN vehicle will be driven from Verwood to Lisbon prior
to Christmas and will come back by sea from Guinea to
Cherbourg. A previous participant himself in the Dakar,
Daniel will support the five-strong Bowler Spirit by fixing
mechanical problems or, if necessary, providing a tow
home.
“Many people think that
asset finance is purely for cars, but in fact it can encompass
almost any asset including unusual items such as this”,
says Darren Venton, Business Development Manager at First
Capital Finance. “The word “asset” can
be used in its widest sense and funds can be secured against
virtually any company purchase including cars, machinery,
office equipment, computer systems and telecoms.”
